This position is a tax auditor who conducts projects with varying levels of complexity for all taxes administered by the Department. Auditors in this position will determine whether taxpayers have remitted the proper amount of state taxes or are required to file returns. Discovery auditors are also responsible for assisting in the administration of Michigan’s Voluntary Disclosure Program.   Discovery auditors work in an office or telework environment or a combination of both and will communicate with taxpayers through letters, phone, and email.  Auditors will also contact companies or tax professionals who have requested Voluntary Disclosure.  This work is done in an independent and team environment. Training is provided for all projects and auditors will progress to more complex projects and duties as they advance and learn.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Experience
