Billing Support Clerk - Temporary (Remote) - 3872

Overview

The Billing Support Clerk I assists in obtaining and submitting medical records and/or other forms and correspondence as needed for payors and healthcare providers.

Pay: Between $17-$18/hr

Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Responsibility

  1. Process appeals, return mail and fax correspondence, route phone calls, resolve claim errors, and initiate bills for patient copays and deductibles.
  2. Post explanations of benefits, electronic remittance, and patient checks to individual accounts in the billing system.
  3. Interact with patients, clinicians, insurers, and internal management in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Participate in the Quality Assurance plan.
  5. Comply with applicable CLIA and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. 1+ years of experience working in a medical office, laboratory, health insurance, or collections setting.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  4. Dependable, detail-oriented, and professional, with the ability to work to meet daily and monthly deadlines.
  5. Ability to type 40 words per minute and possess excellent computer skills.
  6. Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding preferred.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements –light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements –stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
