Internship #1 Hotel Construction
SUMMARY: The Intern will assist project management, site management, and design teams with coordination and planning to achieve short and long term goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize and maintain schedule and document management to track and record project performance.
- Inform management of productivity, quality control, and document management. Notify management of any issues that affect design, quality, budget, progress, and safety
- Enforce quality control and monitor the contractors' and subcontractors' schedules
- Ensure construction work complies with all architectural and engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design documents
- Coordinate inspections with consultants and authorities as required
- Review and interpret plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors and subcontractors
- Utilize "NoteVault" daily work report program. Report accurate quantities of on-site labor by trade, accurately monitor material to insure quantities that the contractor has on site is sufficient to complete the Project in the field
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as
assigned.
Internship #2 Construction/Project
Management
SUMMARY:
The Intern will assist Show Managers with general documentation review and
management, budget planning, schedule alignment and tracking, and other duties
related to Project & Construction Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide documented feedback and input on: budget, schedules, and risks
- Perform supplementary review, feedback, and tracking of information
- Assist with projects during design phases and providing updates
- Assist with updates to policies and specifications
- Assist with document control
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as
assigned.
Internship #3 Construction and Architecture/ATT Development
SUMMARY:
The Intern will work closely with the Facilities Project Management Team as they
mange the project's budget, schedule, and design from concept through
construction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare various presentations.
- Record project Meeting Minutes.
- Prepare and maintain the project's deliverables, construction site visits, and activity reporting
- Champion project turnover deliverables.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
- In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution
- Current class standing of Sophomore or above
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above (official transcripts available upon request)
- Must have a valid FL driver's license
- Consistent attendance is a job requirement
- Approximate dates of this internship are from late August 2017 – early December 2017
- Availability requirement typically includes 24-40 hours per week; Monday through Friday (may include weekends)
- Preferred majors include: Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
- Preferred coursework completed: General engineering and construction curriculum, including scheduling and estimating
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must be efficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software
- Must have experience in construction management, architectural/engineering design, estimating and scheduling
- Must be able to read and understand architectural drawings, work safely on site, and have a willingness to work alternative shifts
- Experience in schedule management and budgeting
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Superior written & verbal communication skills
- Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams
- Prior internship experience is preferred
Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
