Project Engineer Intern

With 15 manufacturing facilities strategically located throughout North America and over $1 billion in sales, KCP (operating as KIK Custom Products) is one of North America's largest custom manufacturers of both National Brand and Retailer Brand consumer products. KCP's product lines include Laundry, Household Cleaners, OTC Medicated, Pharmaceutical and Health & Beauty Care, all supported by KCP's in-house technical expertise and value-added services. 

This posting is for SolSkyn in our Classic Division, which specializes in Sunscreens, Personal Care and Health and Beauty products. 

KCP is looking for an organized and detail oriented entry level Project Engineer Co-op Intern to be responsible for personal care products under the Solskyn brand. The candidate will manage packaging specifications and technical validations with the support and coordination of cross functional teams.

Essential Job Functions:

Packaging Specification Management

  • Develop technical specifications for new product launches
  • Maintain and update specifications for ongoing production
  • Document and communicate specifications to cross functional teams
  • Document and communicate Bill of Material change requests to cross functional teams
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between production and specifications 

Technical Validation Coordination and Execution

  • Collaborate with manufacturing sites for line trial validation of new products
  • Establish and communicate test plans for new product launches, in line with R&D and Regulatory requirements
  • Run tests and generate test reports to support regulatory needs
  • Analysis data and set up needed documentation based on findings 

Timeline Development and Adherence

  • Identify testing lead times and resources for needed packaging validations
  • Ensure validation requirements are communicated and documented in the project timeline 

Finished Good Quality Control

  • Collaborate with Sales and Claims to identify and resolve any quality issues on the market 

General Project Support

  • Support the brand activity as needed

Required Qualifications include:

  • Currently pursuing a B.E. or B.S. in Package, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering or Engineering Management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Project
  • Proficient or can quickly learn Database systems (SAGE, SAP, etc.)
  • Proficient with SharePoint site management 

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge or experience with personal care manufacturing and FDA Regulations
  • Experience with personal care packaging design and supplier base
  • Strong sense of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Technical/Mechanical Skills in a production environment
