Staff Services Manger II

The CA. Department of Social Services' Housing and Homelessness Division is recruiting for a Staff Services Manager II.

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager III, the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) manages staff responsible for program and policy development, grantee oversight and technical assistance pertaining to housing support and homelessness prevention programs operated by county and tribal health and human service agencies. The SSM II is responsible for supervising staff, monitoring workflow, leading numerous highly complex statewide policy development projects including starting new statewide programs related to homelessness with a budget of over $2 billion.

The Budget Act of 2021 provided a significant and historic total of more than $2 billion for the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to provide grant funds to counties, tribes, and other eligible entities to establish, continue, and expand housing and homelessness assistance programs to serve clients of local social service agencies with housing supports over the next two budget years. HHD is undergoing extraordinary growth, officially transitioning from Branch to Division on July 1st, 2022. Staff will have the opportunity to help expand and develop this evolving team.
