Assistant Regional Manager (EE5) - DOH7313

The Assistant Regional Manager supervises six Engineers and two Planners in the Southwest Region of the Washington State Department of Health’s Office of Drinking Water.
 The Assistant Regional Manager is responsible for:
  • Overseeing the implementation of the State Drinking Water Program by the Regional Engineers and Planners.
  • Understanding business needs.
  • Ensuring essential staffing.
  • Assigning duties and balancing workloads.
  • Establishing goals, priorities, and performance metrics for the office.
  • Ensuring that the office has the resources necessary to succeed.
  • Tracking performance and ensure the quality and timeliness of work, and
  • Managing budgets and resources.
They are also responsible for building and maintaining a strong team, which involves:
  • Hiring competent people with good attitudes.
  • Creating a safe and supportive environment.
  • Communicating expectations clearly.
  • Ensuring that staff have the resources they need to succeed.
  • Ensuring that staff consistently follow our values, policies, and processes.
  • Holding people accountable and ensuring the quality and timeliness of our work.
  • Addressing conflict and maintaining harmony.
  • Empowering staff through coaching, feedback, and recognition.
 
This is a full-time permanent Environmental Engineer 5 (EE5) position, located within the Division of Environmental Public Health (EPH), in the Southwest Region of the Office of Drinking Water (ODW).
 
The duty station for this position is Tumwater, WA and telework (mobile work) is currently expected. When approved to return, the incumbent will be expected to report to the duty station for work activities. Mobile-work frequency will be subject to supervisor approval.
