Social Media Intern

Social Media Intern (Winter /Spring 2022)

The Hunger Project (THP) is seeking a Social Media Intern to work as part of our Global Communications team. This internship is open to currently enrolled or recently graduated university students. Preference will be given to those who can work on a PST or EST timezone schedule.

Position Summary: 
Are you passionate about being a global citizen? Would you like an internship with a global organization working to end hunger and poverty? Are you a good writer and have a creative mindset? Then you should join our Global Communications Team! 

The Hunger Project is seeking individuals with a passion for serving others and an interest in supporting our social media work during Winter/ Spring 2022. This is a part-time, unpaid, remote internship eligible for school credit. This is an opportunity for passionate, creative and adaptable individuals who are eager to learn to actively support many facets of communication and marketing through social media. These individuals will build relationships, grow their mindset and skills as they eagerly put into practice their formal educational training.


Specific responsibilities include:

●           Work with The Hunger Project's international team to craft impactful visual and written messages and contribute to storytelling over social media.
●           Assist in planning and executing our social media strategy with our marketing team.
●           Update and maintain THP's social media presence, including scheduling Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram updates via Sprout.
●           Assist in creating social media toolkits for international teams.
●           Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and avenues for marketing and communications.

Preferred qualifications:
●           Confidence using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, and Canva is required. Skills in design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. 
●           Experience using social media scheduling tools including Sprout or similar.
●           Strong multimedia, graphic design, video editing and photo-editing skills.
●           Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
●           Self-starter with a desire to learn, grow and embrace or generate new innovative ideas. 
●           Commitment to THP’s values, including an understanding of and compatibility with our principles and philosophy. 
●           Multiple language skills or experience working/living across nations and cultures is a plus.

Compensation: Unpaid. College credit available.

Time Commitment: 15 hours/week
