PART-TIME HOURS: 20 hours, Monday-Thursday from 10:00am-3:00pm.
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
HOURLY COMPENSATION: $10.00
 
WHO WE ARE:  Since our founding in 1901, the Toledo Museum of Art has earned a global reputation for the quality of our collection, our innovative and extensive education programs, and our architecturally significant campus. More than 25,000 works of art represent American and European painting, the history of art in glass, ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, Asian and African art, medieval art, sculpture, decorative arts, graphic arts, and modern and contemporary art.

To accommodate the ever growing collection and demand for art education, the Museum campus has grown exponentially since its founding. From its humble first exhibition space in two rented rooms, the Museum has grown to cover approximately 36 acres with six buildings.

Thanks to the benevolence of its founders, as well as the continued support of its members, the Toledo Museum of Art remains a privately-endowed, non-profit institution and opens its collection to the public—free of charge—six days a week, 309 days a year. We are closed on Mondays and major holidays.

AREAS OF INTEREST: Conference and program planning

SUMMARY: This internship provides an undergraduate junior, senior, graduate student, or recent graduate with an opportunity to gain experience in conference and program planning experience. The intern will provide support to the Education and Engagement department by assisting in the planning of the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA) conference which will be hosted by the University of Toledo and the Toledo Museum of Art in late September 2020. The intern will also assist with planning and executing the Toledo Museum of Art Block Party in July 2020, specifically as it relates to the logistics of the event. 

RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Education, works collaboratively with other members of the Education and Engagement team and other departments within the Museum. Interns will also have the opportunity to regularly collaborate with Summer 2020 interns from other departments.
 
REQUIRED: Actively enrolled college student in the year 2020.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES: Active undergraduate junior, senior, graduate student, or recent graduate in the year 2020; Adept in using general computer skills, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; Job, volunteer, or school experience planning, organizing, and executing events required. Experience planning an academic conference preferred; Demonstrates a professional attitude, ability to meet deadlines, maintains confidentiality, and effectively communicates through e-mail and by phone. Customer service and administrative experience desired. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard open concept office work environment with related phone, computer and printer noise; position requires the ability to leverage technology including computer, printer and phone systems; the person in this position may be required to communicate with public membership and staff who have inquiries and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
