Marketing Strategy Intern

THE INTERNSHIP - MARKETING STRATEGY (Washington, D.C. )

The internship will require a high level of both quantitative and qualitative analysis and activities. Each intern will be responsible for leading an individual project which will be presented to the Executive team at the end of the summer and will receive mentorship from a business unit leader.

We’re looking for interns who can think creatively and analytically, embrace ambiguity and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and have a solution-focused mindset driven by making an impact.
 
THE ROLE

You will support the MPOWER Marketing’s team of driving customer acquisition growth through a full array of channels such as SEO/SEM, paid advertising, social media, marketing partnerships, and a B2B channel (universities in the US and Canada). We are seeking highly-motivated and entrepreneurial-minded students who can bring innovation and dedication to the objective of reaching their peers around the world.
While our marketing goals are clear, initiatives to achieve those objectives are flexible. Sample projects that interns in the Marketing team could expect to own or contribute to include:
  • Developing a regional marketing/advertising strategy focused on key emerging markets
  • Creating on-campus student engagement programs
  • Analyzing and refining customer acquisition campaigns
  • Developing a segmentation strategy to personalize marketing tactics
  • Using marketing analytics tool to create/enhance dashboards
  • Creating content strategy to increase traffic to MPOWER’s web properties
 
THE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree
  • At least 2-3 years in marketing, business development or communications fields
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Foreign language is a plus
A passion for financial inclusion and access to higher education is a must!

In addition, you should be comfortable working in a start-up environment, meaning a small agile team, fast-evolving roles and responsibilities, variable workload and tight deadlines, a high degree of autonomy, and 80-20 everything.
