Fixed Income ETF Summer Intern

VanEck’s Summer Intern Program includes exposure across the firm through educational, mentorship, and networking events. As an Intern, you will also be exposed to the firm’s senior management, gain an understanding of the financial services industry and learn critical business skills. The Fixed Income portfolio management group is a team of 6 people within the Investment Management department. The team is based in New York and works closely with sales, marketing, capital markets and firm management. This position is made available to help students nearing completion of a masters program to apply their quantitative skills in a dynamic work environment. 
 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned as needed:
 
·        Assess the appropriateness of portfolio optimization models and their limitations for trading and risk management
·        Responsible for the development, preparation, analysis and review of standard and ad hoc portfolio and investment reports
·        Analysis of fixed income markets, ETF baskets and instruments
·        Develop back testing algorithms for quantitative research project
 
 
 
 
 
 
Qualifications  
 
  • Interest in fixed-income and derivative markets
  • Strong academic background in quantitative finance
  • Strong communication skills: ability to express ideas clearly both orally and in writing
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • A working knowledge of Internet, MS Word and Excel is required. 
  • Good programming skills (SQL, VBA, experience with Java, Python, R) preferred
  • Roll up your sleeve work ethic. 
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, detail oriented and inquisitive
 
 
Education and/or Experience                                             
 
·        Pursuing a Master’s degree in quantitative finance
  • Some experience within a corporate environment is helpful but not required.
