Human Resources Intern

Position Summary:The Human Resources Intern assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. The HR intern supports with responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: departmental development, HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organization development, executive administration, and employment law.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

The HR intern has partial responsibility for these areas:

  • Support recruiting and staffing logistics;

  • Support with employee orientation, development, and training logistics and recordkeeping;

  • assisting with employee relations;

  • company-wide committee facilitation and participation;

  • company employee communication;

  • compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping;

  • employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health reporting; and

  • employee services;

  • maintaining employee files and the HR filing system;

  • assisting with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

Required Skills:

 

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills required to interface with employees and management personnel.

  • Candidates must have intermediate skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must be a detail oriented/organized individual with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • High initiative and problem solving skills

     

    Experience & Education

     

  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resource Management required

  • Introductory understanding of legal compliance (EEO, FMLA/Worker’s Compensation Laws) preferred
