2026 Summer Intern – MS/PhD – Infrastructure

Mission Summary:

Our Infrastructure Interns will help build and optimize the data pipelines, tooling, and platforms that enable Perception, Behaviors, and Actions teams to develop and deploy models at scale. This role focuses on high-reliability data systems, dataset processing workflows, storage and retrieval tooling, and infrastructure automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development of scalable data ingestion, processing, and validation pipelines
  • Build tools for dataset management, versioning, and quality measurement
  • Work with large multimodal datasets (images, video, telemetry, logs)
  • Implement automation to improve data labeling workflows, annotation QA, and metadata tracking
  • Collaborate with Perception, Behaviors, and Actions teams to understand data requirements and optimize tiered dataflows
  • Contribute to the observability of data pipelines, including metrics, dashboards, and alerting
  • Support development of Cloud Operations Platform to manage autonomous vehicle fleet
  • Support development of Development Portal to improve SDLC workflows and systems
  • Document systems, processes, and best practices

Required Skills:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, Golang or other modern programming languages
  • Coursework or project experience in data engineering, distributed systems, automation, or backend infrastructure
  • Coursework or project experience serverless architectures, building systems using SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with SQL and data structures

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with big-data technologies
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools
  • Exposure to ML data pipelines, dataset lifecycle management, or ETL systems
  • Experience with source management tools (ex. git, svn, ClearCase)
  • Familiarity with tools for logging, monitoring, or observability
  • Experience with cloud or containerized environments or willingness to learn

     

Note: This will be a hybrid onsite internship position in Boston or Pittsburgh. We will accept resumes on a rolling basis until the role is filled. Compensation will be based on location and degree level.
