Student Editorial Fellow

Editorial Fellow


 

Introduction: ACE is seeking Student Editorial Fellows to join our Policy team for Fall 2025. Editorial Fellows are responsible for copy editing final drafts of policy briefs for publication on the ACE website. Editorial Fellows will be directly supervised by the Director of Policy Research. ACE’s Fellows are an essential part of our mission to civically engage young voters through accessible, nuanced, and nonpartisan policy research.

 

The Fall 2025 research cycle runs from September 8th through December 5th, with a one-week break beginning November 24th. 

 

Detailed Description: ACE Student Editorial Fellows will have the opportunity to copy edit 20+ articles during their time with ACE. Editorial Fellows are onboarded by the Director of Policy research and trained on ACE’s writing style and publication standards. Each week, Fellows will be assigned a number of final drafts to edit based on their availability and interest. Fellows will consult ACE’s style guide to make edits that ensure each brief published on the site remains accessible, nonpartisan, and informative. Editorial Fellows will meet for a bi-weekly meeting with the Director of Policy Research to check in about their progress and consult about any particularly challenging pieces. 

 

This position requires an estimated 5-10 hours per week

  • 1 hour: Participating in team meeting
  • 4-9 hours: Copy editing articles

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience in copy editing (student publications, peer editing, etc.)
  • Interest in policy research or political science, especially in the areas of democratic governance policy, housing & transportation policy, technology policy, public health policy, immigration policy, and/or environmental policy
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision

ACE Fellows have gone on to earn nationally competitive fellowships, work at top think tanks and government agencies, and attend premier public policy, international affairs, and public administration graduate programs. 

Location: This position is a remote role that can be undertaken remotely from anywhere in the U.S. with reliable internet connection.

 

Academic Credit: This fellowship can be undertaken for academic credit. Some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position. The Director of Policy Research will communicate with universities to advocate on behalf of academic credit for Editorial Fellows if requested. 

 

Again, this is an UNPAID position.
